How much does my trip cost? |
The registration fee is $500.00. This fee includes processing of your fam enrollment, roundtrip airfare from any of three US departure points (NYC/MIA/LAX) via LAN Airlines, 3 nights accommodations (single occupancy), scheduled meals, transfers, site inspections, specialized tours and on site educational seminars. Note: You will also be asked to contribute money for tipping, "Reciprocity fees" and Taxes (see below). |
What qualifications do I need to attend a DSChile Field Trip? |
You must be a full-time travel agent who has completed the DS CHILE Course at the time of travel and a holder of a valid IATAN card. You should also be mentally and physically prepared to participate in a working fam. Please note that all itineraries are developed to make the most of the short duration of each trip. Agents should be in good physical condition to keep up with the scheduled events. If you have a physical condition that may keep you from doing so, please contact our office to inquire as to the rigor of the trip in which you plan to participate. Please also keep in mind the climatic conditions (i.e. humidity, season, temperatures). |
How do I enroll? |
First, select a trip and date from our Calendar (link at the right). Second, complete the Enrollment Form (link below) which will include space to indicate your preferred departure city (NYC/MIA/LAX). Third, your application will be evaluated and a confirmation email will be sent accepting or denying your participation. Finally, once application is approved, a letter will be sent containing details about the trip and other relevant information. We also request a copy of your IATAN card, a release form, along with your check (agency or personal) for your registrations fee of $500 USD to the DS CHILE trip administrator (Lan Vacations) at the address below. (Trip operation is subject to reaching a required mininum of 10 agents per trip.) |
What will the trip itinerary be? |
Each trip is customized to maximize your valuable time. Typically, your trip will include numerous property inspections, classroom training, an orientation sightseeing tours, and dining at varied locations. Free time will be somewhat limited due to the short duration of each trip. |
How large will my group be? |
Group size will be no more that 10 agents per trip. (Trip operation is subject to reaching a required minimum of 10 agents per trip.) |
When does the itinerary begin? |
Day 1: mostly night travel arriving at SCL in the morning. Day will include a city tour and dinner at local restaurant. Day 2: Early breakfast followed by training session where you will learn more about this wonderful Country, lunch included. Afternoon, visit to winery and free evening. Day 3: After breakfast, departure to Valparaiso and Viña del Mar followed by a wonderful wine tasting at Indomita Winery. Return to Santiago in the evening. Day 4: Transfer to airport. May I take my spouse or others along? |
These trips are limited to qualified, full-time travel agents who are graduates of the DS CHILE Program. |
How shall I get to my LAN gateway city (NYC/MIA/LAX)? |
This portion of the journey is your responsibility. |
Who handles my airline reservations? |
Airline and tour reservation will be handled by program co-sponsor LAN AIRLINES / LAN VACATIONS, 6500 NW 22nd St., Miami, FL 33122 |
What other costs am I responsible for? |
First, you will be responsible for your own travel arrangements to the LAN gateway city (NYC, LAX OR MIA). Second, you will be responsible for any transfers, ground transportation, and meals not covered on your itinerary (including any necessary overnight accommodations and meals prior to and/or after your inspection trip due to connection schedules from/to your city of origin). Third, any incidental charges (mini-bar consumption, telephone calls, purchases, etc.) will be your responsibility. And fourth, any taxes including departure taxes (U.S. or Chilean) are your responsibility. Currently these taxes total approximately $135 US and payable upon arrival in Santiago. |
How are tips handled? |
You'll be asked to contribute $60 US toward payment of all organized meal tips and guide/driver trip tips. This will be collected at your first organized event by our escort or destination host. |
Is the $500 fee refundable? |
Unfortunately, no. In the event that you must cancel your participation, we will do everything possible to reassign you to a later inspection trip providing space is available. An additional fee of $50 applies if you are rescheduled. |
May I extend my trip or arrive early? |
Add-ons are available to extend your trip to visit other regions of Chile, on a post-Fam basis only. An additional charge applies for these add-ons (click here for details.pdf). |
When will I receive my trip documents and final itinerary? |
Itinerary details will be sent via email approximately one week prior to your date of travel. Fam documents will be received at the first group meeting. |
Who is administering this program? |
The trips are administered and coordinated by LAN VACATIONS as part of your DS Chile certification program organized by Turismo Chile. |
